A Singing Tour of South Africa with Village Harmony, with Sarah Shipton

South Africans thrive on music and dancing, both planned and impromptu. I joined Village Harmony for a singing tour in South Africa January-February 2024. Our international group included folks from many countries including talented singers from South Africa and Madagascar teaching us songs in African languages. We joined music festivals with other choirs, we sang with prisoners in a prison, we ate and stayed with gracious South Africans, and we marveled at the beauty of this magnificent country. I will share South African sights, sounds, complex national history, and fun.
Sarah sings with Evergreen Singers, an Upper Valley hospice choir. She is retired from a career in clinical social work and school counseling. This allows time to hike, cross country ski, and keep up with eight grandkids. She lives in Lyme with her husband, Jim Nourse.
